MGS - Minas Gerais Administration and Services Corp. is a 100% public closed corporation, linked to the Planning and Management Department of the state of Minas Gerais. The corporation is responsible for the entire structure and training of employees who operate in the Integrated Service Units (UAI) of Minas Gerais – The stations under the responsibility of MGS, provide several services for the residents of Minas Gerais, such as the obtainment of documents, unemployment insurance, the filling out of police reports for robbery and theft, the issuance of vehicular tickets and fees, the registration of companies and individuals interested in hiring people with physical challenges and professional qualification, among others.

The Project

MGS decided to invest in an infrastructure as a service (IaaS) in order to update its technological park and ensure the upgrading of all of its assets. The project included the recycling of all the machines in operation in the organization’s 30 service units.

CIMCORP performed a total exchange of the company’s assets and became responsible for the entire management of its technological park. MGS now has contingency sites that automatically startup in case of problems with the main server. Because it operates under a model of infrastructure as a service, CIMCORP’s team performs monthly visits to MGS and manages the processes of over a thousand machines belonging to the company, administrating the entire park.

In order to create the environments in the UAIs, CIMCORP made all the necessary equipment available, such as desktops, printers, storage units and servers. The use of the new machines ensured speed to the units, optimizing the services and improving their quality.

Approximately 7% of MGS’s entire technological park is formed by backup machines, which means that it isn’t necessary to wait for CIMCORP technicians to change the equipment in the case of accidents.

Another benefit of the infrastructure as a service model is the transparency in the IT area, since governance is a major concern for the organizations nowadays.
