CAPEMISA Life Insurance and Social Security Corp began its activities on April 1, 2008. And it began with 47 years of tradition and a portfolio with more than 340 thousand active plans. CAPEMISA is the successor of CAPEMI – An Open Entity for Complementary Social Security, which was transformed into an Incorporated Company. The ProjectCapemisa decided to invest in a process to modernize its technological park. The 16 servers made available previously by the company were reduced to only two, considering 30 virtual machines, two for main operations and the others for contingencies. The entire data was consolidated in storages, which were replicated in two sites. The project relies on a robust backup system for the protection of the data and the virtual machines. Capemisa currently has two data processing centers; one for production and the other for contingencies, with storages replicated in a synchronous manner and accessible to the servers, with one in each center running WMware via SAN (Storage Area Network). In the case of failure, the contingency center takes over the entire processing. A new corporative backup structure was also created, contributing to the increase of the availability of systems. Sun Microsystems equipment and Symantec products were also used. Another great advantage is the fact that the system automatically shares the processing of an overloaded machine with an idle machine. “We’ve gained a lot in management. It became easier to meet the corporative needs, since it is possible to quickly create a machine”. Francisco Escudeiro, IT manager of Capemisa. |
