A recent survey conducted by IDC with 155 Brazilian companies revealed that approximately 42% of the mid-sized and large companies had switched to the virtualization of servers. Within this context, some companies have been searching for alternative products and solutions to supply in order to stand out in the market, one of these companies is Cimcorp, a company specialized in the optimization services of IT infrastructure performance and management, which released Total Point, a personalized DaaS (Desktop as a Service) service, which intends to reduce purchasing and maintenance costs with a desktop park, besides allowing for the company to have greater control over the end-user. According to CIMCORP, one of the main benefits for the company is the reduction of costs, which can be of up to 25% in the TCO (total cost of ownership) with Total Point. With the adoption of the system, it is possible to reduce user idle time, logistics and standardization of equipment, increase in speed and productivity, the configuration of workgroups and departments. Besides this, Total Point has no initial investments because the payment is made on a monthly basis, as the IaaS service. Thus, the solution offers greater security, flexibility and agility for the growth of the business. Gilberto Caparica, marketing manager of CIMCORP, affirmed that in order to purchase two thousand desktops, including maintenance and support over a period of three years, approximately R$ 12 million would be invested. "When we apply the concept of desktop virtualization services, with the entire infrastructure, maintenance and support, the investment drops to R$ 9 million.
