The Neptune (who was almost named Iemanjá) consists of 256 Dell servers equipped with Intel eight-core chips, plus a handful of routers and other equipment of specialized memory. The system is installed at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and is part of a joint project between Petrobras and baptized some universities to map the ocean behavior and current, essential information for anyone who will install production platforms for oil offshore.
